Your kitchen doesn’t have to be fancy, but it should be obvious that you can cook and eat safely in your home.
Exposed wires, broken stairs or railings, broken windows, serious disrepair, blocked exits, or obvious trip-and-fall hazards can be issues in any room. They are particularly important in the bedroom intended for the child. A dirty or stained mattress and bedding can be a red flag, too. Again, if it looks as though a child might get sick or injured, that’s a problem.
Chemicals, medications, firearms, tools, batteries, or other hazards accessible to a child will be a problem in any room. Safety

Thinking about these issues and preparing for them can help you avoid a negative or defensive response if the subject comes up during your home study.
Calm
If you feel very anxious about the look of your home, it may be worth having a cleaning service in so you can relax. A calm, peaceful home can make a good impression, especially if the social worker meets calm, peaceful parents, too.
